Firefighters from the District Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Bolesławiec on the incident:
On 11 March 2021, at 2:08 a.m., the duty officer at the District Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Bolesławiec received a report that on kilometre 56 of the A4 motorway towards Wrocław, a lorry had hit the crash barrier of a road overpass and was dangerously suspended approximately 7 metres above the road running beneath the motorway.
When the first units arrived at the scene, they found that the lorry driver was in the vehicle’s cab, conscious and unable to leave the cab unaided.
The firefighters secured the scene, evacuated the driver from the vehicle using a leaning ladder and high-angle rescue equipment, and contained the leak of a petroleum-based substance. They added:
The firefighters’ operation lasted 2 hours and 47 minutes.
