The third wave of the coronavirus pandemic is gathering momentum, as the health minister might put it. The epidemic situation is worsening across the country, including Lower Silesia. As far as our voivodeship is concerned, the situation is worst in the Wałbrzych region.
What is the situation at the Bolesławiec Health Care Centre?
Currently, 90 patients are hospitalized at our hospital (out of 110 available beds), including 19 people on ventilators. For comparison: at the beginning of February, there were 39 patients infected with COVID-19 (7 on ventilators). At that time, several people were admitted within 24 hours; now, the number is several dozen.
It is possible that all the beds will be filled with patients within the next week. (The management is considering increasing the number of beds).
(Almost) a year of the pandemic at Bolesławiec Hospital in numbers
- 3,000 people infected with the coronavirus,
- 350 people treated on ventilators,
- 250 deaths,
- 100,000 people tested for COVID-19.
Interestingly, March 11 will mark one year since the first patient infected with SARS-CoV-2 was diagnosed in the infectious diseases ward of Bolesławiec’s ZOZ.
