Kamil Barczyk, director of ZOZ in Bolesławiec:
Fifty million zlotys—that is the value of investments launched in 2020. I hope that this year the amount will be similar. More than 40 million has already been spent. This primarily includes the functioning COVID ward in the modular hospital. The second-largest investment is the modernization of the second floor of the hospital’s main building. The modernization will include the Operating Theatre and the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care, planned for 9 beds. Another investment is a modern Department of Trauma and Orthopedic Surgery.
We must care for all patients, not only those infected with the coronavirus. Hence the need to develop and modernize diagnostic imaging. The facility will be expanded by 300 square meters and equipped, among other things, with a second CT scanner and a mammograph.
Moreover, the Central Laboratory has acquired modern equipment, one of the best available on the medical market. ZOZ:
The genetic laboratory is the absolute top level of laboratory diagnostics. There is no better method of diagnosing COVID-19 infections. This is what is currently needed. Thanks to the equipment and an excellent team of diagnosticians, it is possible to perform all analyses in which genetic testing is applicable, including in the treatment of infertility, diagnosing congenital diseases and estimating the potential risk of many diseases, including cancers.
Kamil Barczyk:
We are in the design phase of the expansion of the Emergency Department. The SOR is planned to be expanded by 300 square meters. This will improve the admission of patients with COVID-19 and reduce the risk of contact between infected patients and others. The Department of Infectious Diseases itself will gain an additional 14 beds. This is essential to enable us to help people suffering from infections other than coronavirus, such as viral hepatitis, HIV and Lyme disease.
