Last week, a Reader called us claiming that on one of Bolesławiec’s local portals (he was not sure which one) he had read that holders of the Large Family Card could park free of charge at Piłsudskiego Square.
The man, who stressed that he has a child with a disability, parked in the aforementioned square and went to a pharmacy for a moment. When he returned to his car, he discovered that he had been issued a PLN 50 fine.
The Bolesławiec resident tried to have the fine cancelled, but was referred to the City Hall. One of the city officials reportedly told him that it was nonsense that anyone had announced that holders of the Large Family Card could park free of charge near Piłsudskiego.
Indeed, we found such information in a news article from six years ago (https://istotne.pl/boleslawiec/wiadomosc/CeE/jakie-ulgi-beda-w-boleslawieckiej-karcie-duzej-rodziny). However, it was clearly stated that this was only a proposal (for the sake of precision: “the proposals for discounts in the Bolesławiec Large Family Card to date”).
We contacted the City Hall for clarification. Agnieszka Gergont, spokesperson for the Bolesławiec City Hall:
I would like to remind you that the Bolesławiec Large Family Card introduces a discount system, and its holders may use the offers of Program Partners—municipal cultural, sports and recreation institutions and units, as well as businesses and other entities—on preferential terms. The list of Program Partners, the services and goods they offer, and the applicable discounts, exemptions and rebates is published on the website www.bkdr.boleslawiec.eu, under the “Bolesławiec Large Family Card” tab.
- The program’s implementers are:
- Bolesławiec City Hall,
- The Municipal Social Welfare Centre in Bolesławiec,
- Program Partners—municipal organizational units and other interested entities that offer discounts and preferential terms on the goods and services included in their offerings and join the Program.
The Program’s implementers place information about accepting the Card on their websites, in prominent places at their offices and on their websites, with the wording “Bolesławiec Friend of Large Families” [podkreślenie – A. Gergont].
She also notes:
Parking at Piłsudskiego Square has never been free for BKDR holders. The car park is managed by the Municipal Communal Economy Plant in Bolesławiec [podkreślenie – istotne.pl].
She adds:
On 20 October 2015, the first agreements with Friends of Large Families concerning participation in the Bolesławiec Large Family Card program were concluded in Bolesławiec’s Council Chamber. Information on the subject appeared on the website of Bolesławiec City Hall and in local media, including: https://istotne.pl/boleslawiec/wiadomosc/CGj/boleslawieccy-przyjaciele-duzej-rodziny.
Earlier information (publications) concerned announcements about the BKDR program, which was launching in October 2015, and the fact that partners and friends of large families from Bolesławiec were being recruited.
