We were informed about the outcome of the session, during which the resolution was repealed, by MP Robert Obaz.
“Pressure works!” said Robert Obaz. “Thanks to the determination of Nowogrodziec residents, who collected more than 1,200 signatures on a petition calling for the sale of the park to be halted, I defended, together with them, the only green area in the centre of Nowogrodziec during the Municipal Council session. I spoke about how greenery cannot be replaced with a concrete commercial space, and how people must not be deprived of their memories connected with the only green place in the Market Square. For many residents, resting in the small green square is a sentimental journey back to their childhood. Nowogrodziec really has many areas where a shopping centre could be built, and the councillors who, shortly beforehand, adopted a resolution to begin preparing a study of development conditions should ensure that Rajmund Wróblewski Park, named after the long-serving head of the Nowogrodziec municipality and town, is preserved. I am convinced that we will meet in this square very soon, during an interesting happening connected with the lives of the residents of this beautiful town,” MP Robert Obaz told the istotne.pl portal.
The Nowogrodziec Civic Association for Local Initiatives VE-TO has been involved in the campaign to preserve the park from the very beginning.
