Over the past week, the number of people being treated for COVID-19 at the county hospital in Bolesławiec has risen by 10 percent. However, as Kamil Barczyk, head of the ZOZ, emphasizes, it is certainly not as bad as it was at the end of last year, or even in January this year. (There was a time when the facility admitted as many as 20 patients infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus in a single day. It currently admits 3–5 people a day.)
It is also positive that the condition of the patients currently arriving at our hospital is not as serious as it used to be. Why? “I hope that patients are regaining trust in the healthcare system and are reporting to their primary care physicians and hospitals at the appropriate time,” says director K. Barczyk. “They do not wait at home until their health deteriorates critically.
Patients are reaching the hospital much earlier, enabling it to treat them more effectively. The result? Not a single death has been recorded at the hospital for two weeks.
How long this situation will continue is unknown. Experts warn that a third wave of coronavirus is ahead of us. We will certainly return to the subject.
