On January 1, we reported:

The Municipal Stadium on Spółdzielcza Street in Bolesławiec had finally received approval for modernization and expansion and was included in Bolesławiec’s 2021 budget plans. It will be a multipurpose stadium where football matches and athletics competitions can be held.

Modernization and expansion of the stadium in Bolesławiec. Plan: PLN 4,000,000. The project includes construction of a Category IVA athletics arena, stands with a sports hall, technical infrastructure and facilities.

The project is planned to be carried out with support from the Physical Culture Development Fund as part of the “Sportowa Polska” program.

Bolesławiec mayor Piotr Roman returned to the matter during the January meeting of the Bolesławiec City Council. He said that the Municipal Commune had submitted an application to renovate the stadium because Robert Rzepnicki, head of the Public Procurement and Municipal Investments Department at Bolesławiec City Hall, had received a call from the ministry saying that there was a strong hope that the City of Ceramics would receive approximately PLN 2 million in funding for this purpose. (Previously, the deputy head of the PZLA had promised Bolesławiec authorities support in this matter.)

Meanwhile, a few days ago it turned out that the application submitted by the Bolesławiec Municipal Commune had received a negative opinion. “For three days now, we have known that we will not receive this grant because, for example, Polkowice will receive it. Perhaps this is because the presidential election results there were different, since I can find no other explanation. Let me remind you that Polkowice is the wealthiest city of its size in Poland. And it is also supported by the government of the ‘good change’,” Piotr Roman said during a City Council session.

As the mayor emphasized, the City is not abandoning the stadium renovation, but the project will be postponed by at least a year. The municipality intends to apply for funding for this purpose again. “We still believe that Bolesłavia deserves a good stadium. BKS does too, but Bolesłavia especially,” the mayor stressed.

What will happen to the money allocated for the stadium in the budget?

Some of the money is to be used, among other things, to renovate the main field and expand the beach volleyball courts at the Water and Sports Center on Spacerowa Street. Beach volleyball courts may also be built near Wiadukt Plaza, along with a barbecue area.

We will certainly return to this topic.
