The President of the National Bank of Poland Adam Glapiński, having praised the bank’s decision to put the 500-zloty banknote into circulation several years ago (February 10, 2017), announced that a 1,000-zloty banknote could appear during the next term of the NBP president.
Meanwhile, Krzysztof Kowalczyk, deputy director of the NBP’s Issue and Treasury Department, clarified that this could happen in 2025–2026. He added that A. Glapiński’s announcement should be treated as an “intention to examine the advisability of justifying the introduction of such a banknote into circulation.”
