Mayor of Nowogrodziec Robert Relich signed an intermunicipal agreement concerning the implementation of a task specified in the Social Assistance Act, involving the obligation to provide shelter to homeless people.

The agreement was concluded by the following local governments:

  • Municipal Commune of Bolesławiec,
  • Bolesławiec Commune,
  • Commune and Town of Nowogrodziec,
  • Gromadka Commune,
  • Warta Bolesławiecka Commune,
  • Osiecznica Commune.

Nowogrodziec officials:

The year-round, 24-hour shelter for homeless men is located at al. Tysiąclecia 32d in Bolesławiec and is run by the Bolesławiec branch of the Polish Red Cross. The facility's purpose is to meet basic living and social needs and help residents return to life in the community. The shelter provides free psychological, medical and legal assistance. Under the signed agreement, the provision of shelter concerns men from the City of Bolesławiec, the Commune and Town of Nowogrodziec, as well as the communes of Bolesławiec, Warta Bolesławiecka, Osiecznica and Gromadka.

They add:

The agreement obliges all signatories to contribute to the shelter's operating costs in the form of a targeted grant and also establishes the number of places at the shelter allocated to each commune.

  • Commune and Town of Nowogrodziec – 3 places,
  • Gromadka Commune – 3 places,
  • Warta Bolesławiecka Commune – 3 places,
  • Osiecznica Commune – 1 place.

Support for the operation of the shelter for homeless men by the Nowogrodziec Commune local government is an expression of concern for and assistance to people who, for various reasons, have found themselves in a difficult situation in life. Homelessness, as a social problem, is one of the most complex and difficult issues.
