A reader asked for the time at which the lighting switches on to be adjusted:

Can the lights illuminating the pedestrian crossing on Podgórna Street be adjusted somehow? The idea is for them to be on in the morning from 6:00 to 8:00 – when people are going to work – and then from 16:00 to 18:00, when it is already dark.

We addressed this question-suggestion to the city office. We received a response that the crossing lighting had been adjusted and operates from dusk to dawn. Agnieszka Gergont – spokesperson for the Municipal Office:

This does not (the pedestrian crossing lighting – editor’s note) affect the operation of the motion sensors installed on the poles, which are responsible for switching on the illuminated signs (they are also supposed to operate during the day).

In summary:

- the poles have active signs and speakers, which are switched on by motion sensors installed on the poles – the system is intended to operate 24 hours a day,

- the same poles also have fixtures illuminating the crossing, and these are controlled by a timer and are intended to be on only from dusk to dawn.
