– In the coming weeks, we will publish a draft tightening criminal and misdemeanor liability for actions against the environment. It is time to put an end to the persistent myth that this is less significant crime, carrying only low penalties – Jacek OzdobaJacek Ozdoba, Deputy Minister of Climate and Environment, told “Dziennik Gazeta Prawna”.
The ministry wants the maximum penalty for the most serious environmental crimes to be as high as 25 years in prison. (Currently, it is a maximum of 12 years).
Penalties for littering are also to be increased: from PLN 500 to PLN 5,000. It is also possible that an additional penalty will be imposed: cleanup. Details on the website of “Dziennik Gazeta Prawna”.
