The matter concerns the woodland behind the former POM facility on Gdańska Street.

“Once again, rubbish has appeared in our beautiful woodland,” a reader told us at the beginning of December. “As usual, someone is ‘beautifying’ these areas of Bolesławiec for us. The woodland is a beautiful place, and it is a shame to see it deteriorate. It is a forgotten, neglected place, and nothing is being done about it. There is supposed to be a ropes course under the viaduct; perhaps something interesting could be created here as well, and a company could be invited to invest in this part of Bolesławiec? We travel to neighboring counties to enjoy attractions, while Bolesławiec has an ideal location for such an investment. Bolesławiec’s Market Square is developing beautifully, and we have attractive decorations there. Perhaps it is time to think about the outskirts of the city, which are no longer so well maintained?” the reader asks.

We asked the spokesperson Agnieszka Gergont about the possibility of developing the green areas behind the former POM facility. Unfortunately, in 2021 there are no funds in the city budget to develop this location for recreational purposes.

This year’s budget contains no funds for developing the woodland behind the POM facility, for example by creating a ropes course. In the near future, a “balance park” ropes course will be built near the viaduct. It is worth recalling that this will be another attraction for people who enjoy spending their free time outdoors—this time for the youngest visitors. Bolesławiec City Hall has signed a contract for the delivery, construction and installation of a “balance park” ropes course. The planned elements include boxes, a caterpillar, suspended ladders, a sky surfer, mixed loops, lion rings, an Amazon bridge, low hanging ladders and a curved bridge. The project will cost PLN 157,530. The funds come from the budget of the City of Bolesławiec. The investment is scheduled for completion at the end of May.

What do you think could be done with the woodland behind the POM facility, and is there a chance of finding an investor who would be interested in this green area?
