As Stanisław Żółtański, head of the Municipal Department at the Municipal Office in Nowogrodziec, informed us:

We commissioned a company to repair the street lighting failure under the contract for the maintenance and servicing of street lighting; the fault was fixed on January 5.

Let us remind you. We reported on the matter on January 5. The day before, a Reader wrote to the editorial office via Facebook:

Could you perhaps address the issue of the “Egyptian darkness” in Nowogrodziec? For several days, the city has simply been dark, without the slightest source of light, on the main Sienkiewicza Street—from the intersection with Krótka and Ogrodowa streets, along the municipal cemetery and farther in the direction of Milików. The same is true along the entire Asnyka Street, both by the garages and the Soviet cemetery and near the GOPS and the health center.

The reader added:

It is simply as dark as in ancient Egypt, and this is the 21st century. This situation has been going on for several days. I have personally seen people bumping into one another, especially older people. In addition, since yesterday [od niedzieli 3 grudnia – przyp. istotne.pl]there has been dense fog. This does not promote residents’ safety and could also provide a good opportunity for offenses and crimes.

Reader: “Perhaps the city authorities will comment and explain the situation. The lack of lighting has continued for several days, and nobody is interested in it... Such a situation would not occur in Bolesławiec, but in Nowogrodziec it is as if there were no local community interested in how its city functions.”
