Zbigniew Bożęcki, president of the Board of the District Branch of ZOSP RP in Bolesławiec and head of the Volunteer Fire Service in Trzebień, has died. He lost his fight against coronavirus.

It is with great sadness that we announce that on 20 November 2020, the late Firefighter Zbigniew Bożęcki passed away.
Firefighter Zbyszek was a member of the Board of the Voivodeship Branch of ZOSP RP in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, President of the Board of the District Branch of ZOSP RP in Bolesławiec, President of the Board of the Municipal Branch of ZOSP RP in Bolesławiec, and above all, President of the Board of our unit. Despite running a business, he was actively involved in community work in many areas of local life. In 1990–1998 and 2002–2007, he served as a councillor of Bolesławiec Municipality and was a long-standing member of the Parish Council of the Parish of the Holy Cross in Trzebień. In recent years, he was also active artistically—as a member of the very popular “Retro” cabaret from Trzebień. He was also passionate about caravanning—he very often travelled with his wife in their campervan, visiting Poland as well as European countries. He initiated and organised many local projects. And for us, for nearly 30 years, he was above all a much-liked and trusted President of the Board of the Volunteer Fire Service in Trzebień.
Zbyszek was valued by everyone with whom he had any contact. In the firefighting community, all volunteer and professional firefighters from Bolesławiec County knew him and held him in high regard. He stood out for his great composure and high level of personal culture. He never refused anyone any help.
For his many years of community service, he received the following distinctions: in 2006, the Golden Sign of the Association; in 2010, the Bolesław Chomicz Honorary Medal; and in 2014, the Bronze Badge of Merit for Fire Protection.
Only recently, during the September session of the Bolesławiec Municipal Council, he and his wife Władysława received an award for Long Marital Life. His family was the most important thing to him, followed immediately by his passion for the fire service.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of Firefighter Zbigniew.
President, we still had so many ideas to bring to life. You always said that we would manage. We will miss you very much, but we are convinced that you will find your place on the other side. You will surely join the ranks of the knights of Saint Florian and continue to support us in our work “from up there”, just as you did until today. You will remain in our hearts and memories forever.
