More than 180 people can enter a Mass at the Mary’s Basilica at one time. The church has an area of more than 1,270 m² (according to geoportal data). Dividing this by 7 m² per person (under the regulation), it turns out that 181 people can enter the Basilica at one time. From 7 November, there will be fewer, because the limit will be 15 m² per person. This means that from Saturday, 84 people will be allowed to enter Bolesławiec’s largest church.

Currently, 135 people can enter the church at plac Zamkowy; after 7 November, 63 people. At the church on Jana Pawła II, currently 105 people, later 49. At the church on ul. Orzeszkowej, respectively 148 people and 69 people; in the Kwiatowe housing estate, 162 people and 75; at ul. Krótka, 66 people and 21 after 7 November.

When we began analysing the possible number of worshippers in churches, we thought that removing our cameras from the Basilica might have had another motive. At first, it seemed to be because we had reported on the apostazja.eu website, which makes it easier to leave the Catholic Church. However, perhaps the cameras were removed because the priests do not want people to see how many people attend church and what the priests’ and worshippers’ behaviour looks like inside. We replayed the recording from the previous-to-last Sunday and it turned out that during a children’s Mass in the Basilica, a priest called the children to the centre of the church and spoke with them there. The required two-metre distances were not maintained; the children probably came from different schools, not from a single class. It was similar during the distribution of Communion at other services. People stood one behind another, without keeping their distance. In any case, see for yourselves (the camera images were blurred to protect people’s privacy).

It is a shame that the United Right government does not treat everyone equally.

Prime Minister Morawiecki is completely closing schools, restaurants, cinemas, swimming pools, gyms and some shops in shopping centres. He is leaving churches open. And, after all, they are mainly attended by older people, who are most at risk during the current epidemic. Is there any logic to this?
