Those who have protested so far have created another Facebook event. The march is to begin on Friday, October 30, at 5:00 p.m. on the square between Biedronka and the Millennium Cross. This is what they write about the upcoming protest:
Dear all, on Friday we will protest once again against the violation of human rights by the pseudo-Tribunal of Ms Przyłębska. The shameful “ruling” of October 22 broke the compromise on the very difficult and painful issue of abortion that had been in force for 27 years. Jarosław Kaczyński once again decided to deceive Polish women and men and changed the law in force through someone else’s hands, under the cover of the Covid-19 pandemic.
This time, however, women’s rights were affected so strongly and directly that the cup of bitterness overflowed. We do not and will not consent to violating every person’s fundamental right to decide about themselves. We do not and will not consent to one person dictating how we are to live, what to think, and whom and how to love. Polish women and men took to the streets in large numbers, even in the smallest towns, to protest against such treatment. Young people in particular—young female and male citizens—decided to express their opposition to a man who does not understand the world around him and wants to take us back to the Middle Ages.
Residents of Bolesławiec have been protesting every day since Saturday, October 24. On Friday, October 30, we will also take to the city’s streets in protest. Join us, support us, see our protest online and from the windows of your homes. See for yourselves that those marching are your neighbors, your children and grandchildren, your acquaintances and friends—not some “leftist militias,” “German Antifa,” “rabble,” or whatever else the “public” media call us. We need you in this opposition here and now; it is very important for two reasons. First, it gives us strength and lifts our spirits; second, it shows those in power that there are very many of us. We are not some “street” that one does not talk to; we are the female and male citizens of the Republic of Poland. We are not attacking anyone or anything; no person, no Bolesławiec church, and no building has been harmed during our protest. I know that many of you are offended by the words represented by eight stars, but they are the most authentic expression of what many of you feel. Young people are more open to expressing emotions in a direct and honest way; do not take that right away from us. That is not the dominant slogan or guiding idea at our marches. Come and help us chant and sing, carry our slogans and banners, clap and honk. We ask you very much to do so. Motorists, join the march from behind, decorate your cars, and let us know with your horns that you do not consent to such treatment.
We will set off from the square at the corner of Willowa and Komuny Paryskiej streets and march for about 1.5 hours. Before the march, we will share a map showing the start and finish. Forgive the shortcomings, but this is a complete spontaneous effort and none of us has any experience. Bolesławiec has never before seen demonstrations this large organized from the grassroots. And never for five days in a row. Remember: our opponent is Jarosław Kaczyński and his system of exercising power over millions of Polish women and men. Voters of one party or another, followers of one religion or another, heterosexuals and homosexuals are not our opponents. We do not attack anyone, we do not respond to taunts or provocations (there have been none so far, and let it stay that way), and after the march we disperse and go home. During the march, we maintain distance; the authorities accuse us of spreading the virus, so let us not make those accusations any easier for them. Masks and distance, distance and masks! Let us look after one another and help anyone who needs it. Solidarity is our weapon!!! Let us show that this is not an empty slogan.
Policewomen and policemen, you secure each of our marches. A huge THANK YOU for this effort. We know it is not easy for you. We have even greater respect for your service and are even more pleased that we do not see scenes here like those in some large cities. You are one of us, so continue to stand with us. From our side, there is absolutely zero aggression. You have seen that so far, and it will remain that way.
Additional information will appear on the day of the march. For example, a list of Bolesławiec attorneys who have declared that they will provide pro bono assistance, free of charge, to anyone who has any kind of problem. A map will be posted. So will the lyrics of a song we will want to sing with you. Follow the event, share it, and invite your friends. Power is in women, power is in you, power is in our Bolesławiec. See you!
