Support from the County Office and school principal Laura Słocka made it possible—for the third consecutive year—to carry out project activities with young people from Zbaraż. The main difference in implementing this project was that it was conducted remotely, in an online format.
Although the project participants were in schools approximately 900 km apart, they worked together very actively. Their joint work involved carrying out the same activities at the same time while seeing one another on computer screens. (The experience gained in spring, when lessons at schools were held online, was very helpful in preparing the remotely conducted project.)
The project involved seven students from Bolesławiec and seven students from Zbaraż. Supported by the coordinator and supervisors—Barbara Smoleńska, Maciej Pronkiewicz (Bolesławiec) and Mirosława Kołtoniuk (Zbaraż)—the young people worked very actively:
- decorated Bolesławiec ceramics
- made beads and head wreaths
- made films about Bolesławiec, Zbaraż and their activities
- looked in their cities for products and symbols of their partner cities
- created family trees of their own families
- baked confectionery and shared recipes for making it
- sang songs
- organized meetings with residents of both cities
- ran the website www.facebook.com/LaczyNasHistoria, where they posted all the results they developed.
One of the more significant results is the publication “Bolesławiec – Zbaraż, United by History and People,” containing information about formerly distinguished residents of Zbaraż whose gravestones are located in the local cemetery. During the project activities, young people from Zbaraż tidied up these gravestones.
Organizers:
The posts on the project website and the daily, very friendly conversations show that the young people became close friends. We hope that soon the young people from Bolesławiec and Zbaraż will be able to meet in person.
