Staff Sergeant Sylwia Serafin, press officer for the Commander of the Lubin District Police Headquarters:
A woman from Lubin was harassed by her former partner. She told police officers that the 27-year-old man called her at different times of day and night, showed up at her home and threatened to commit a crime against her.
The ex-partner’s behavior became so persistent that the woman eventually turned to the police for help.
The spokesperson said: “While carrying out their official duties, officers from the criminal investigation department of the Lubin police headquarters proved that the arrested man had committed other crimes in the city between April and September this year.”
Police established that the 27-year-old broke into six cellars in apartment blocks and committed fraud by listing a stolen bicycle on an online portal and collecting PLN 500 for it. Interestingly, the suspect had no intention of sending the bicycle to the buyer.
Police: “The total value of the losses suffered by the victims as a result of the arrested man’s actions was nearly PLN 18,000.”
The man was arrested and taken to a police holding cell; he was charged with stalking, fraud and burglary. At the prosecutor’s request, the court ordered the suspect to be held in pre-trial detention for two months.
The 27-year-old now faces up to 10 years in prison.
