Government:

We should take particular care to protect older people from coronavirus infection. That is why we are introducing rules that reduce the risk of infection – including the familiar senior hours in shops.

– We are striving to stabilize the situation related to the coronavirus so that the rate of increase in infections is as low as possible – Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said.

Senior hours from October 15

From October 15, 2020, the United Right government is introducing senior hours. From Monday to Friday, between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., only people over 60 will be allowed to shop in shops, drugstores and pharmacies. This will help reduce the risk of potential infection.

However, this is not the only solution. In addition, there will be:

  • stricter epidemic rules in social welfare homes and care facilities
  • a recommendation to limit contact with people over 70 as much as possible.
  • and, above all, solidarity between generations.

United Right:

Protecting older people will not succeed without intergenerational social solidarity! That is why we appeal for help and support for older and lonely people. Anyone can take part in such efforts by simply doing the shopping, collecting medicines from a pharmacy or picking up a parcel from the post office.

– We must be aware that the rules we establish are guidelines and recommendations that seniors should follow – this can save lives – the prime minister said. He also stressed that, as part of intergenerational solidarity, by following the rules we protect the health and lives of older people.

The support system for seniors is based on the efforts of volunteers, social organizations, local governments and the state. Scouts and non-governmental organizations are among those helping older people. The government will allocate PLN 38 million to social welfare homes for sanitary protection and support for the staff of these facilities. Politicians: – We are working together to ensure the safety of our seniors.

4 safety rules – DDMA

According to the government website, effective action against the coronavirus consists of following the basic rules of conduct, known as DDMA:

  • distance
  • disinfection
  • mask
  • the STOP COVID – ProteGO Safe app.

Chancellery of the Prime Minister:

Maintaining social distance of at least 1.5 m, frequent handwashing and disinfection, and covering the mouth and nose are basic measures that help reduce the risk of coronavirus infection.

The STOP COVID – ProteGO Safe app also supports the fight against the threat. It is completely safe, free of charge and voluntary. The more people use it, the faster and more effectively we will limit the spread and reach of the coronavirus.

#SupportASenior campaign

PiS: – We remind you about the #WspierajSeniora campaign. It is worth helping people in our immediate surroundings. During the ongoing epidemic, this can be done while limiting direct contact with other people.

How can you help?

Four simple steps:

  • download the #WspierajSeniora poster (available to download here)
  • provide your contact details – name and telephone number
  • print it and… put it on your door, in the stairwell or on the nearest noticeboard
  • wait for a phone call!

Government:

How we cope with the coronavirus epidemic depends on all of us. So let us be supportive and responsible for one another. Sometimes all it takes is:

  • doing the shopping
  • walking the dog
  • collecting a parcel from the post office
  • collecting a prescription.

This small gesture can save many people.

Join the support system

The institutionalized support system operates through the activities of local governments, including social welfare centers. However, anyone who wishes to get involved can become a volunteer. To help, we can also contact a social welfare center in our area. Their list is available at: https://www.gov.pl/web/koronawirus/wolontariat.
