On Tuesday, 27 October, a meeting with District Governor Cezary Przybylski was held at the headquarters of the Bolesławiec Economic Society. The conference was attended by representatives of the District Office: Grażyna Haluch, head of the Department of Environmental Protection, Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, and Krzysztof Pańczak, head of the Architecture and Construction Department.

During the meeting, officials addressed, among other matters, the controversy surrounding the planned construction of Galeria Piast (see our article: The City Protests Against the Construction of the Shopping Centre). “Different people see it differently. Cooperation between the District and the Municipal Commune may not be outstanding or wonderful, but it is correct,” emphasized Cezary Przybylski. “Other district governors rate this cooperation very highly.

Cezary Przybylski also raised the issue of economic and tourism promotion: “We are preparing a major application, the subregional project ‘Discover the Charm of the Lower Silesian Forests’. Seven local governments will participate in it, and the leader will be Bolesławiec District.

The district governor admitted that he was very positively surprised that Niebieski Burak (Łaziska) won a ranking of Polish hotels compiled by one of the most popular tourism websites, TripAdvisor.com. “More and more tourists are coming to this hotel and, on the occasion, visiting other attractions in our district,” he stated.

“Zakłady Ceramiczne ‘Bolesławiec’ prepared a guide to the city and district at its own expense, in which there was only a brief mention of our company,” added Karol Stasik, head of BTG and president of the company. “We assumed that, for someone to want to come here, it is not enough to send them a brochure devoted to ceramics. You simply have to bring them to the city. Then hoteliers, restaurateurs and others will benefit as well. All entrepreneurs should think this way. Tourism can be the driving force behind Bolesławiec’s development.
