On Friday, 23 October, an evening of The Beatles’ music was held at the Community Hall in Kruszyn, featuring one of the greatest bands in the history of popular music. The Fab Four’s best-known songs were performed, including “Help!”, “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da”, “Yesterday”, “Yellow Submarine” and “Let It Be”.
The performers on stage were Natalia Żebrowska, Agnieszka Miszkiewicz, Marta Cieśla and Marta Walska, as well as a group consisting of Katarzyna Tobiasz, Wojciech Tobiasz and Cezary Byrski. In addition, everyone gathered in the Community Hall could take part in a quiz about the famous Liverpudlians.
“It all began with vocal workshops led by Beata Widera from the Municipal Culture and Sports Centre,” says Marta Cieśla, one of the originators of Friday’s concert. “During the classes, it turned out that Marta Walska and I both really like The Beatles. Together with Beata, we decided to organise an evening featuring the band’s songs.”
Why The Beatles in particular? “Electronic music is extremely popular nowadays,” Marta explains. “But I prefer live music. And The Beatles’ songs make you want to dance,” she adds.
The young vocalist particularly enjoys the Fab Four’s rock ’n’ roll songs—her favourite is “Twist and Shout”. “But, in truth, every one of their songs has something special,” she stresses.
Friday’s concert was organised by GOKiS Bolesławiec, based in Kruszyn.
