The 2020/2021 school year at the School and Preschool Complex in Bożejowice began one day late, on Wednesday, 2 September. There was no ceremonial opening because of suspicions that one of the teachers, who felt unwell after training, might be infected with coronavirus.

“By accepting the duties of headteacher, I took responsibility for the health and safety of the children,” says Alicja Krawczyk, the new head of the School and Preschool Complex in Bożejowice. “I decided to postpone the start of the school year after consulting the governing body and the education superintendent’s office. I had previously spoken with a representative of the sanitary inspection.”

The school’s pupils came to classes as normal today. They were welcomed by their form teachers.

“We don’t want any more coronavirus,” adds A. Krawczyk.

Let us recall. On Monday, 31 August, we reported on the cancellation of the start of the school year at the School and Preschool Complex in Bożejowice. The decision was made because there were suspicions that one of the school employees might be infected with coronavirus.

Although the sanitary inspection saw no contraindications to starting the school year as planned, the school administration, in consultation with Gmina Bolesławiec, preferred to wait for the test result. When it proved negative, a decision was made to begin classes one day late, on 2 September.

On Tuesday, 1 September, information appeared on the school’s website stating that the school would begin classes on 2 September.
