Last weekend (11–13 September), the Taekwondo WTF International Masters NRW Open tournament was held in Bonn. Seventy-seven teams from 12 countries took part in the competition. Poland was represented by the Taekwondo National Team and the Polish Army Taekwondo National Team. The former included Bolesławiec resident Krzysztof Jasiński. The Bolesławiec athlete won a silver medal in the under-54 kg category. Our athlete lost only the final bout. He fought the remaining bouts in impressive fashion, winning most of them by a large points margin.
The International NRW Masters tournament is part of an international competition series resembling a league system. In tournaments in this series, athletes from various European countries compete using new trunk protectors approved in June of this year by the World Taekwondo Federation. The protectors have a built-in electronic points registration system.
Krzysztof Jasiński’s achievements
This year, Krzysztof Jasiński has competed several times in the national colors. These events included the European Junior Championships. The Bolesławiec athlete also won two silver medals for Poland at Class A tournaments: the Belgian Open and International Masters NRW. 2009 is Krzysztof’s final year in the junior age category.
