The discussion and vote on the budget followed the same pattern as debates and votes on other resolutions. The entire right-centrist governing coalition voted in favor of adopting the budget. Representatives of the opposition left abstained. No one voted against it.
The budget was adopted with 13 votes in favor and 6 abstentions. “It is a good budget, but difficult to implement,” said City Council Chairman Stanisław Małkowski after the vote.
The budget just adopted is the municipality’s plan for expenditure and revenue. This plan is prepared every year. Before councillors adopt or reject it, the budget must receive a positive opinion from the Regional Chamber of Audit. The commonly used abbreviation RIO refers to an institution that ensures local governments spend money in accordance with regulations.
Gmina Miejska Bolesławiec falls under the jurisdiction of the Regional Chamber of Audit in Wrocław. Direct supervision of our municipality’s finances is carried out by the RIO Branch Office in Jelenia Góra.
