General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways in Wrocław:

We have restored traffic on the section of the A4 motorway between the Krzyżowa interchange and LSSE Obszar Krzywa. Traffic towards Zgorzelec (the state border) is now moving on both lanes, with the speed limit set at 40 km/h.

Officials add:

We will restore unrestricted traffic in the near future, after replacing the damaged concrete pavement slabs. The work will be carried out using rapid-setting concrete technology to minimize its duration and the related disruptions.

GDDKiA carried out immediate repairs to the damaged concrete pavement. They concerned a section of the former German motorway rebuilt in 1994–1996. The office stated:

We are analyzing options for expanding/building the A4 motorway on the Wrocław–Krzyżowa section.

Let us recall that last Friday, several concrete slabs on the A4 motorway carriageway towards the border were damaged. The Wrocław branch of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways said: “The concrete slabs were found to have dilated on their own, which led to the pavement slabs becoming detached. Bulges in the slabs relative to one another were visible on the carriageway. A decision was immediately made to carry out temporary repairs using rapid repair methods. On Sunday, both lanes of the A4 motorway in the westbound direction were reopened. A temporary speed limit of 40 km/h was introduced.”

GDDKiA adds:

The damaged concrete pavement slabs are scheduled to be replaced in the near future using rapid-setting concrete technology. Traffic on the carriageway towards Wrocław has continued without disruptions throughout.
