Stonehenge, a band playing Celtic music, performed on the Forum stage on Thursday evening. The band’s frontman, Arkadiusz „Kosmo” Wąsik, entertained the audience with witty comments about the successive songs. He introduced the first as a song hummed by Irish women who perform tiresome household chores: washing, cooking and cleaning for their men. “The Irish are better than us Poles,” Arek „Kosmo” concluded the song. “In Poland, women also wash their men’s clothes, but no one has written them a song they could hum while doing this hard work.
Good music, which could successfully be called cosmopolitan folk, the musicians’ spontaneity and excellent humour, topped off with Irish beer, completely enchanted the audience. The musicians of “Stonehenge” not only managed to create the atmosphere of an Irish pub; they transported the audience to the Emerald Isle. “To a place where one can find both the mad fervour of a battle fought by Celtic highlanders and the calm and mystery of a Celtic monk.” (text from the band’s official website).
The non-musical attraction was a tasting of the dark beer “Jan Kowalski” (John Smith). Unlike many brands, this beer is infused with nitrogen rather than carbon dioxide. The nitrogen mixes with the beer only when the can is opened, thanks to a special container inside in which the gas is sealed. This technology keeps the beer fresh and gives it a delicate taste.
The cinema lobby featured an exhibition of beers from around the world, from the collection of the band—lovers of good music and foamy beverages.
