The incident occurred on Tuesday evening. After 7 p.m., the police received a report that two men were shooting at a dog with an air rifle in the courtyard of one of the tenement buildings in the Market Square.
At the same time, we received information from readers. This is how they described the situation:
Today I was at the playground near the courtyard between the Market Square and 1 Maja Street with my child. After the children had played on the swings for a while, two men arrived with alcohol and a long air rifle. They sat on a bench by the playground and began unpacking beer. After a while, one of them stood up, loaded the air rifle and fired toward the sandbox, behind which there was a man with a dog on a leash. I only saw the dog tuck its tail between its legs, and the man with the dog quickly left. I took my child and ran away, then we called the police.
I am shocked that such things happen in broad daylight practically in the center of Bolesławiec, at a playground. And right behind the wall are the Market Square and major preparations for the celebration. It is frightening to go outside with a child because you never know what to expect from people like that.
After receiving the report, the police intervened. When officers arrived at the scene, they found neither the person who had reported the incident nor the dog at which someone was said to have been shooting. They did, however, find two men, residents of Bolesławiec. The 26-year-old had an air rifle and pellets with him. He was accompanied by a 40-year-old.
The men claimed that they had not fired the air rifle and had only been carrying it. The police secured both the air rifle and the pellets. Documentation was prepared. As reported by Staff Sergeant Marta Kubiak of the Bolesławiec police, officers are conducting explanatory proceedings concerning a misdemeanor. The legal classification of the act may still change.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact the Bolesławiec police. This will enable the case to be concluded more quickly and the perpetrators to be punished.
