According to the minister, so-called “horizontal transmission” of the virus has recently increased in Poland, meaning that people are infecting one another. Łukasz Szumowski claims that this is due to people’s carelessness, reduced social distancing and the lack of face masks. People are becoming infected at weddings, family events and in clubs.
The minister warns that if people continue to disregard sanitary rules, the so-called red zones, which currently apply in 9 counties, could spread across the whole of Poland, after which restrictions would return everywhere. Today, the Ministry of Health reported 551 new confirmed coronavirus infections. Twelve people died.
