A few days ago, shortly after 2:00 p.m., police received a report that in Nowogrodziec municipality, a driver of an Opel, while reversing, hit a parked car. The perpetrator left the scene without waiting for the patrol. Within just a few minutes, officers detained the man. After identifying the driver, they checked the police database.
It turned out that the 45-year-old’s driving privileges had been revoked and that he was also subject to a court-imposed ban on driving motor vehicles. Despite this, the man had no qualms about getting behind the wheel.
Police remind the public! Failure to comply with a court-imposed driving ban is a criminal offence under Article 244 of the Criminal Code and is punishable by up to 5 years’ imprisonment. Driving a vehicle despite a decision revoking one’s driving privileges, under Article 180a of the Criminal Code, is punishable by up to 2 years’ imprisonment.
