The incident occurred on October 10. At around 1 a.m., Bolesławiec police officers received a report of an attempted theft of a spare wheel from a heavy goods vehicle. The vehicle was parked in one of the parking areas along the bypass.
The truck driver notified the police. The man was sleeping in the vehicle’s cab. At one point, he woke up and saw three people attempting to steal the wheel.
When the suspects noticed that someone was watching them, they got into a car parked nearby and drove away. They were arrested by the police shortly afterward.
The police found an illegal firearm in their car. All three men, residents of the Nowogrodziec and Węgliniec municipalities, were taken into police custody. They face up to 5 years in prison.
In addition, one of them will be charged with illegal possession of a firearm, which carries a penalty of up to 8 years in prison.
