The incident took place on Monday, August 3, in Lubań. In the afternoon, drivers traveling along a dual carriageway noticed a wrecked Opel Omega with Zgorzelec registration plates driving against the traffic. At one point, the Omega driver narrowly avoided colliding with a minibus, but moments later he hit a truck trailer. This did not discourage him from continuing to drive.
The e-lubań.pl portal reports on the incident:e-lubań.pl:
The collision with the truck trailer did not stop the Opel. Its driver sped in a slalom toward Olszyna, losing the car’s front bumper at the intersection of the dual carriageway and Podwale Street. Witnesses told us that the Omega was already so badly damaged that, in order to see where he was driving, the driver had to look through the car’s side window.
The 40-year-old Opel driver was arrested by police after a short pursuit in Olszyna Dolna. The officers’ attention was drawn to the wrecked car and a man looking through its side window. Police are currently establishing the course and circumstances of the entire incident.
