The incident occurred on Monday (27 July) on the A4 motorway. The Ukrainian citizen driving a Daewoo Lanos was travelling towards Wrocław from the Łąka interchange. After a while, he collided with a van. Then he decided to change direction. He began driving against the flow of traffic.

Fortunately, the incident did not end in tragedy. The man was stopped by the drivers of two lorries, who blocked his way.

The 46-year-old Ukrainian citizen was handed over to the police. It turned out that he was drunk. He had 2.5 parts per mille of alcohol in his system. He was charged with two offenses: driving under the influence of alcohol and causing a road traffic hazard while driving under the influence of alcohol. This afternoon, the driver was remanded in custody. He faces up to 12 years in prison.
