A Reader called us and informed us that Nowogrodziec gmina was evicting an older man from social housing on Jodłowa Street. He had lived there for a year. As she explained, the senior had been in an informal relationship with the official tenant. However, she died recently.
Neighbours emphasize that he is a decent man—in contrast to some of the other residents of the street. The Reader added:
I think it is worth helping him.
We asked municipal officials for comment. Mayor Robert Relich:
We do not leave Residents without help in difficult life circumstances. We sent social workers to provide assistance to the Applicant, who found himself in a difficult situation. On July 9, 2020, the Resident submitted an application for the allocation of housing from the municipal housing stock. He is currently staying in the premises without a tenancy agreement because, for reasons known only to him, he initially refused to register there at the request of the social housing tenant. In previous years, he had another premises from the municipal housing stock, which he vacated and left unoccupied in a condition requiring renovation.
The municipal head adds:
While the application is being considered, we can offer social assistance and the possibility of staying at the Social Welfare Home in Nowogrodziec or the shelter for homeless people in Bolesławiec.
