The incident occurred on June 24. “Officers from the Border Guard Post in Legnica noticed a burning car on the A4 motorway. The vehicle was stopped on the hard shoulder at kilometre 76 of the A4, near the village of Budziwojów,” reports Maj. SG Joanna Konieczniak, press spokesperson for the Nadodrzański Border Guard Unit.
She adds:
Due to the danger posed to the driver of the burning Opel and other road users, Border Guard officers immediately secured the site of the fire and began extinguishing it.
Using a powder fire extinguisher carried in the Border Guard service vehicle, they extinguished the flames coming from the engine compartment and disconnected the battery in the burning car. The Opel’s distressed driver was offered water by the Border Guard officers to help calm him down.
Fortunately, the driver was unharmed. The vehicle was removed from the motorway. Its owner secured it in a nearby car park.
