Originally, the exams were supposed to take place in April, but due to the epidemic and the closure of educational institutions, the schedule was set for June. After the session ends, the eighth-graders’ papers will be checked by examiners, and the results will be sent to schools by the regional examination board. The nationwide results for all parts of the session will be announced on 31 July this year: on that day, students will receive certificates showing their eighth-grade exam results. Their results will determine which school each student will attend in the next stage of their education.
What were the exams like for the students of Szkoła Podstawowa Oxpress?
Here, in the gymnasium at Aleja Tysiąclecia, which had been prepared several days earlier, twenty-eight people took the first exam. Before entering the building, the students had to disinfect their hands with a special liquid and put on masks. Then, the chair of the examination committee drew a desk number for each person entering, indicating the desk where they would work with their paper. In accordance with the sanitary regulations, students were not allowed to lend one another supplies. Naturally, both students and teachers felt some slight stress, but everyone greeted one another and talked about possible tasks with excitement and smiles on their faces.
When asked whether they were afraid of the exam, the students replied: “A little, because it is an important matter. But we worked hard over the past few weeks, every day
we had online lessons and consultations, so we will certainly manage!” The papers used in this year’s eighth-grade exam will be published on the websites of the Central Examination Board and the regional examination boards on each exam day at around 1:00 p.m.
We are keeping our fingers crossed for all eighth-graders! Good luck!
