What are the officers inspecting?
- road surface condition
- conflicting vertical and horizontal road markings
- speed limits that are excessively restrictive and unjustified by the conditions
- safety hazards for vulnerable road users (pedestrians and cyclists)
- the correctness and legibility of railway crossing markings, as well as improved visibility at those crossings
- incorrect or unnecessary signage
- illegible signage
- missing or damaged road safety devices
- the lack of sidewalks, particularly in towns and villages through which national and provincial roads run
- the danger posed to road users by trees growing along road shoulders.
