On Monday, May 25, a blood donation drive was held at the Soldiers’ Club in Świętoszów. It was organized by the Legion Military Honorary Blood Donors’ Club at the 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade (10BKPanc) for 4-year-old Bruno Rylich, who is battling acute myeloid leukemia.
Soldiers:
The fight for the health of the little warrior—the son of Major Tomasz Rylich—a soldier of the 34th Armored Cavalry Brigade—has been ongoing since February 4 this year. This inspired the armored cavalry soldiers from Świętoszów to organize a blood donation drive among the soldiers of the 11th Lubuska Armored Cavalry Division.
“The blood donation process is not complicated, but anyone wishing to donate blood must pay attention to certain important factors that may disqualify a potential donor, such as unsuitable body weight, previous surgeries or procedures, and stays abroad. I have personally donated around 30 liters of blood,” said Captain Janusz Niemiec of the 10BKPanc.
At the same time, the DKMS Foundation organized a campaign to find an unrelated donor for Bruno Rylich, a 4-year-old child suffering from leukemia. The boy’s only chance of making a full recovery is a bone marrow transplant.
“We organized the bone marrow donor drive to help little Bruno Rylich, who is looking for a donor but has not found one yet,” said Major Adam Koronkiewicz of the 10BKPanc.
