A year ago, we described how, two weeks after the season began, city bikes in Bolesławiec were damaged. This year, it is even worse. Just one week after the season began, five front lights and a handlebar grip have already been stolen from Bolesławiec’s city bikes. What is more, someone tried to tear out the wiring (the cable entering the frame).
In addition, two footrests were broken, but that is not all. One user, in the area of Polna, decided to take a bike into the building where he lived. Fortunately, the bike was returned. Unfortunately, one bike is still missing. The search for it is ongoing...
The worst part is that it is very difficult to determine who stole something from or vandalized a bike. The bike’s location is visible in the system, but the system does not check the bike’s technical condition after every user. The person supervising the bikes also does not draw up handover reports after each use, because doing so alone is almost impossible.
We appeal to everyone to respect public property and not destroy it. We would like to point out that the lights stolen from the city bikes are unusual and have an unusual power supply, so they will be of no use to the thief. We also point out that we will all pay for losses of this kind through our taxes...
