On 15 May, soldiers from Bomb Disposal Patrol No. 23, commanded by Senior Warrant Officer Radosław MazurRadosław Mazur, neutralized an 80 mm German mortar shell found on private property on Góralska Street in Bolesławiec. “Due to the shell’s technical condition, it was neutralized at the site where it was found using the VULCAN system,” explains Captain Agnieszka Kozik of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment in Bolesławiec.
She adds:
Several hours before the operation itself, approximately 1,500 residents were evacuated and streets in the danger zone were closed to traffic. The entire operation was carried out jointly with the services responsible for public safety in Bolesławiec.
The bomb-disposal specialists appeal:
Any explosive or dangerous object should be reported to the appropriate services immediately. “Reporting it costs nothing and may save a human life,” says patrol commander Senior Warrant Officer Radosław Mazur.
