On Wednesday afternoon, the Bomb Disposal Patrol of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment from Bolesławiec received a report about the discovery of a mortar grenade. The dangerous object was found by the fence of a single-family home on Góralska Street in Bolesławiec while thuja trees were being planted.
Initially, 17 buildings were designated for evacuation. Once the evacuation is complete and the access road is closed, the bomb disposal experts will begin their work. The grenade poses a threat within a radius of 300 metres from the place where it was found.
Update
After 5:00 p.m., the bomb disposal experts suspended the operation. It will continue on Friday. Due to the unexploded ordnance’s poor condition, it will have to be detonated at the place where it was found. The evacuation of residents from part of the housing estate will be necessary.
