Unfortunately, the search for the child from Nowogrodziec ended tragically. The child’s body was found. The body was in the river.

Let us recall. Reports from April 27 said that the child might have fallen into the river. Divers searched the water, while a boat equipped with sonar examined the riverbed. From the air, police officers in a helicopter and a special drone equipped with a thermal-imaging camera conducted surveillance. Firefighters, soldiers and police officers searched the riverbanks and nearby plots. Tracking dogs were also brought in. It was all to no avail.

As we learned on the morning of Tuesday, April 28, the boy’s father turned out to be a wanted person—he was due to serve a prison sentence for an offense against property. He was later additionally charged with exposing Kacperek to the danger of loss of life or serious bodily harm. He now faces up to five years in prison, where he has already been taken in connection with the earlier sentence.

The body of little Kacperek from Nowogrodziec, who disappeared on Monday, April 27, in the evening, was found on the thirteenth day of the search. Considerable forces and resources were deployed in the search operation. Last Thursday—thanks to officers from the Wrocław water police—dogs on boats searched the Kwisa for the boy’s scent.

Last Wednesday, an inspection camera from the Bolesławiec PWiK also worked at the site, reaching places that were difficult to access.

Maja Rutkowski conducted the search for 3.5-year-old Kacperek. She remained in constant contact with the child’s mother. What was Kacperek doing on April 27, the day he disappeared? In yesterday’s interview with istotne.pl, the detective reconstructed the day Kacperek disappeared.
