On Friday, 24 April, Komenda Powiatowa Państwowej Straży Pożarnej w Bolesławcu handed over to the Ochotnicza Straż Pożarna w Czernej (Nowogrodziec municipality) a medium GBAPr 2/24/750 Star-Man rescue and firefighting vehicle, previously used by the Bolesławiec unit.

Firefighters from KP PSP Bolesławiec:

The vehicle was manufactured in 2004. It has a 2,000-litre water tank, a pump with a capacity of 2,400 litres per minute, and a supply of 750 kg of extinguishing powder.

The vehicle handed over will replace a heavily worn-out GBA 3/48 vehicle on a Renault chassis from 1994. The handover was made possible by the Bolesławiec Rescue and Firefighting Unit receiving a new vehicle with similar specifications in 2019, namely a GBA 3/24/5 (SCANIA).

The uniformed officers add:

OSP Czerna, which received the vehicle, has been part of the national rescue and firefighting system since October 2015, by decision of the Chief Commander of the PSP. OSP currently has 27 members actively participating in rescue operations. They are well trained, including in the provision of qualified first aid.

The unit's members were also strongly involved in promoting and popularising the “Emergency Corridor” campaign, which contributed to changes in road traffic regulations.

In Bolesławiec County, the unit recorded an average of 88 interventions per year over the past three years.

Ochotnicza Straż Pożarna w Czernej is a dynamic unit with two fire vehicles, including one light technical rescue vehicle. OSP's location near the A4 motorway means that it is frequently dispatched to road traffic incidents.
