The regulation also enabled local governments to apply for funding to purchase computer equipment for remote learning for students and schools.

Powiat Bolesławiecki applied for PLN 99,861 to purchase 31 laptops and software. The application was approved, and we are currently waiting for the agreement to be signed. All schools that reported a need for computer equipment will receive it this week.

After the suspension of classes in schools and educational institutions was announced from 12 March 2020, the Education, Culture and Sport Department of the District Office in Bolesławiec conducted an assessment of the possibilities for remote learning in schools and institutions supervised by the county. The information obtained indicates that there are shortages of equipment both in educational institutions and among students, preventing remote work and contact between teachers and students. This may result in some students being excluded from the education system and an accumulation of learning backlogs.

Funding under the Digital Poland Operational Programme, allocated for the purchase of equipment for schools and students, will provide significant support for conducting remote work with students.

However, it is important to transfer the equipment to the beneficiaries as quickly as possible in order to create equal conditions for all students and minimise the effects of the restriction on the operation of educational system institutions during the epidemic.
