On Thursday at 3:00 p.m., new traffic lights were activated at the Zygmunta Augusta–Łasicka–Parkowa Street intersection. They are intended to improve traffic flow and make it easier for pedestrians to cross the road (pedestrians can activate the green light by pressing a button).
The traffic lights remotely “respond” to cars approaching from Łasicka and Parkowa streets. Special sensors have been installed on the signals on the Parkowa and Łasicka Street sides. If there are no cars on either approach (to the road with right of way), the lights give priority to Zygmunta Augusta Street. Control of the entire intersection is activated when a car appears on the minor road.
The traffic lights cost nearly PLN 150,000. The city paid half, and the county paid the other half.
