As of April 1, the rules for using grocery stores have changed. All customers will have to shop wearing disposable gloves.

A maximum of three people per checkout may be present in stores; if a store has five checkouts, then at one time 15 customers may be inside the store. The rule of three people per checkout was not too troublesome at the Carrefour hypermarket: people waited up to 15 minutes to enter, or not at all.

Between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., stores and service outlets may admit and serve only people over 65. During the remaining hours, stores and service premises are available to everyone, including people over 65. There is also a technical break, at different times in each store—for example, at Carrefour from 1:30 p.m. to 2:10 p.m.

Some stores are abandoning 24-hour sales, like Carrefour, which is open from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.; others are introducing nighttime sales, like Biedronka. Below is a statement from the Biedronka chain’s press office.

As of April 2, Biedronka stores are extending their opening hours and will be open from 6:00 a.m. to midnight. Additionally, during the week before Easter, from April 7 to 10, Biedronka stores will be open around the clock.
