In the second half of March, due to the advancing pandemic, the United States Army Europe Command decided to significantly scale back the DEFENDER 20 exercise. Above all, further movement of military units was suspended—both from the United States and of those already in Europe. (The health and safety of soldiers, civilian employees of the military and their loved ones became the main priority of the US Department of Defense.)

At this stage, it was assumed that certain training activities would be carried out by the Brigade Combat Team. However, a significant portion of US Army units will return to their home garrisons in the United States.

There will be no military vehicle convoys—either in Bolesławiec or in its vicinity.
