The May conference was organized by the city authorities and the Bolesławiec Enthusiasts’ Society. It was attended by a sizeable group of Bolesławiec’s pre-war residents, most of whom now live in Siegburg.
The aim of the conference was to reconstruct the final period of the life of Father Paul Sauer, who died in 1946 after being beaten by officers of the then Security Office.
The conference presented, among other things, information on the subject based on documents from the Institute of National Remembrance. The newly published book contains the texts of all the lectures delivered in May. It also includes several photographs documenting Father Sauer’s life. A shortcoming of the book is the lack of translations of the lectures delivered in German. Only summaries are provided.
