Statement from the administration of the Multispecialist Hospital – Independent Public Healthcare Institution in Zgorzelec.
On 07.03.2020 (Saturday), a doctor from our hospital’s surgery department returned from India. He returned to work at the hospital on Monday, 09.03.2020.
On the evening of 15.03.2020, he developed clinical symptoms including elevated body temperature, cough, general malaise and weakness, which, in his opinion, given his stay abroad, suggested grounds for suspecting SARS-CoV-2 infection.
Accordingly, early in the morning of 16.03.2020, he was examined by a doctor from the infectious diseases department, a sample was collected for testing, and home quarantine was recommended, which he followed.
On 17.03.2020 at 15:46, the test result was received electronically by the State County Sanitary Inspector in Zgorzelec; it proved positive.
Epidemiological control measures were immediately undertaken in accordance with the accepted standards set by the Chief Sanitary Inspector, limiting the spread of SARS-CoV-2 infection.
They included conducting an epidemiological investigation at the workplace to reduce the risk of infection spreading in the hospital.
The measures also covered people who had private contact with the doctor.
