Ewelina Rudzik, mother of little Kuba:
Tax returns are currently being filed. If someone does not file their return themselves, I will be happy to do it in exchange for donating 1% of their tax or making a symbolic payment to the foundation’s account (if they cannot donate 1%) for our son’s treatment and therapy.
I will send the return online with an Official Receipt Confirmation (faster repayment of any overpayment) or submit it for traditional filing at the tax office.

About Kuba
The parents:
Jakub was born on October 21, 2017. At four months old, he underwent a serious hernia operation that was a major burden on his body. His development was not harmonious; he was a child who did not require much attention, did not particularly like being carried, and preferred playing alone with toys on a mat rather than interacting with us, his parents.
He did not point, did not respond to his name, but he loved music. This worried us, but it did not concern the pediatricians. The problems were downplayed, so we began private diagnostic examinations, and our concerns were confirmed.
In January 2018, Kuba was diagnosed with autism; he was then not yet 15 months old. This is very early, which gives us a chance for better therapy results.
Our little son, although he is almost 2.5 years old, cannot speak or communicate with those around him or signal his needs; every new place is an enormous burden on his nervous system.
Like other children with autism, Kuba cannot imitate us adults and therefore cannot naturally learn everyday activities. Such a child’s world centers on objects, while a person—whether a parent or a stranger—serves as someone who performs tasks. Medicine remains, for now, largely helpless in the face of these disorders, and the main approach is therapy aimed at minimizing the effects of autism.
The parents add:
In addition to autism, Kuba struggles with severe multiple food allergies and atopic dermatitis. He has been diagnosed with bronchial asthma and low muscle tone, and is undergoing tests for optic nerve damage and immune disorders. He requires daily multidisciplinary therapy, which involves considerable financial costs; one hour of sessions costs between PLN 90 and 120.
Rehabilitation stays bring the best results. Each one is a huge step on the road to an autistic child’s independence, but also costs PLN 5,000–7,000.
Our goal is for Jakub to be able to function independently, communicate, and be one of many boys. Unfortunately, this is a very important issue, because every day we struggle with a lack of awareness about autism in society, malicious comments in public places, in shops and in doctors’ queues, and—worse still—with a lack of knowledge among doctors and officials.
Today we know that we must say goodbye to dreams of our child’s future—the kind of future we would have wanted for him. Today we must ensure that Kuba can function in society; this is very difficult because our system does not provide comprehensive care, making private therapy and treatment a necessity.
