The incident occurred during the night from February 29 to March 1 near the forest in the village of Kierżno (Nowogroodziec municipality). Firefighters from Nowogrodziec:
Upon arriving at the scene, they found that a large pile of branches near the forest was on fire. Due to the high demand for water, the available forces and resources were insufficient, and the operation commander requested the dispatch of two more firefighting units.
Therefore, at 00:50, another dispatch was made; this time, the second unit from our station and a unit from OSP KSRG Czerna set out to help.

A total of 30 m3 of water was used.
